Elizabeth was very helpful and knowledgeable when setting up a family Trust. The Trust was completed although when registered with HMRC which was a service I paid extra for, one of the Trustees had their name spelled incorrectly. I had to correct the error concerning the typo with HMRC myself which is not ideal when paying a four figure sum. The knowledge was very impressive but the administration function seemed lacking, mistakes do happen but it should not have been myself that corrected the error with the incorrect Trustee details.

However, I found their communication could have been better—I often had to chase for updates rather than being kept informed proactively. Resonses to my queries were usually vague, meaning more often than not I had to ask several follow on questions to get a full answer. Overall, an okay experience but not particularly outstanding.

Prevarication over a will trust conclusion. The private client department has been dealing with our deceased mother’s will trust for around 3 years now which has caused growing concern with our family because of the ongoing lack of a conclusion.

Responses to requests for timescales to see a conclusion to the will trust being paid out have been only to say that will trusts are “very complicated” and “far from straightforward and particularly tricky”. The firm is using a subcontracted accountants company to deal with the inheritance and capital gains tax issues and are unable to forecast an end to the process.

We elevated our concerns about how long this process is taking to the trustee of the will (who is also a partner solicitor at this firm). But instead of replying, he delegated his response to another solicitor who just repeated the same answers that the case solicitor had given us plus even saying we could continue the trust rather than close it down. We have never had such options explained.

Overall, we have never met or had a phone call from any of these 3 people in B & B, or the accountants firm they are using. We are only dealt with by emails and there seems to be no end in sight.

The company should realise that to the customer, this seems like deliberate prevarication instead of actually doing something positive or at least sketching out a probable future timescale. The saga continues…

I used B&B, more S&C really (Simon and Coco) to help me with writing a will. They had been recommended to me by my sister who had been delighted with their service and so to was I. Bonallack and Bishop did what was merely required of them to complete the sale of my house. But, they managed it in a atmosphere of sheer uninterest and of doing what was merely required of them.

In the five month sale there were no indications that the person dealing with the current enquiry was that that interested in their client. Some emails went unanswered and I only discovered later that my solicitor was largely part time, passing the case load to an equally silent paralegal. Then there was the disappearing on holiday.....
True the house sold eventually but I was never kept appraised of the progress unless I asked. Bonallack and Bishop did what was required in an atmosphere of automaton and of no interest or concern for their suffering client.
I'd never use them again or recommend them. 8/10 for getting the job done, but 1/10 for being human or interested.

I have had reason to consult Carl Raybould at Bonallack Bishop in Salisbury over a property and boundary issue in which he was very knowledgeable and supportive, his advice helped me get a situation to court.
I recently had to seek advice for the court hearing as Carl is not a criminal lawyer he gave me detailed advice and instruction for the date. He got back to me by phone quickly and has answered emails very fast which is not the reality with all solicitors.
I highly recommend Carl Raybould his advice is mindful and he cautioned me regarding the importance of getting quotes before proceeding with a barrister. I will always give this practice and Carl a call in future for any problem.

I can't comment on the technical nuance, but I unfortunately did find the customer service fairly lacking. I worked with them in order to extend my lease, and they originally had said the process would take 3 - 6 months, but it took over a year, and throughout the process, I would have to chase them for updates - they would usually ignore the first one, and respond to the second (one or two weeks later). They did successfully complete the process; however, I have contacted them asking whether I'll receive any paperwork confirming completion, and have yet to receive any response - it's been two months, and I've emailed them three times. Really disappointing, given how expensive the whole process is.

Edit: Following the review, I did receive a follow-up, which helped clarify things and move forward. I appreciated their quick response to following feedback.
